Historic Gayatri Yagya in Riga, Latvia: A New Chapter in Baltic-Indian Spiritual Harmony
In a momentous occasion, Dr. Chinmay Pandya, Pro-Vice Chancellor of Dev Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya, had the privilege of conducting a Gayatri Yagya in Riga, Latvia as part of his international visit to the Baltic nations, alongside the newly formed Gayatri Pariwar members. Latvia, as part of the Baltic nations, shares a deep cultural and spiritual resonance with India. To honor and strengthen this unique bond, DSVV has proudly established Asia’s first and the world’s largest Centre for Baltic Culture and Studies, which continues to welcome Latvian Parijans with open arms.
In a landmark initiative, the Latvian Gayatri Pariwar held the first-ever Jyoti Kalash Yatra Yagya, with Dr. Pandya presiding over the sacred rituals. Over 100 members of the Latvian community participated, taking the Jyoti Kalash to their homes along with the Dev Sthapana, pledging to practice regular Gayatri Upasana, Sadhana, and Aradhana. This divine Kalash will continue its journey to Lithuania, where a series of Yagyas and Dev Sthapana ceremonies will take place, spreading the spiritual light further into the Baltic region.
What made this event particularly special was the resilience and devotion displayed by the participants, braving the harsh weather conditions with an outside temperature of -3°C. The presence of so many spiritual seekers, undeterred by the cold, created a deeply inspiring and divine atmosphere. This historic Yagya marks a new era in fostering spiritual harmony between the Baltic nations and India, with the Gayatri Pariwar playing a pivotal role in this awakening.
