Where Values Were Worshipped, Not Monuments
‘Sajal Shraddha – Prakhar Pragya’ ritual held ahead of Birth Centenary celebrations
Haridwar | December 16
Some moments do not merely become part of history; they shape its direction. One such moment unfolded at Haridwar when the ‘Sajal Shraddha – Prakhar Pragya’ special ritual was performed ahead of the forthcoming Birth Centenary celebrations of Vandaniya Mata Bhagwati Devi Sharma and the Akhand Deep, organised by the All World Gayatri Pariwar, Shantikunj.
The ritual was not a worship of stone memorials but a reverential offering to a living legacy — the consciousness, tapasya and resolve that guided an entire era and illuminated millions of lives. It stood as a tribute to values that continue to awaken India’s spiritual soul.
The presence of Swami Dayamritanand Ji of the Ramakrishna Mission and Swami Brahmdev Ji, Head of Sri Aurobindo Ashram, lent the ceremony a profound spiritual dimension. The gathering silently conveyed that while spiritual traditions may appear diverse, their source remains one. The Vedic chants offered at the sacred memorial of Yugrishi Pandit Shriram Sharma Acharya and Mata Bhagwati Devi Sharma became a bridge between traditions, a dialogue of philosophies, and an unbroken stream of spiritual practice.
The event witnessed an uncommon yet powerful sight as Haridwar District Magistrate Mr. Mayur Dixit and Senior Superintendent of Police Mr. Pramendra Dobhal, along with senior administrative and police officials, stood shoulder to shoulder with spiritual seekers. It underscored that the occasion was not about authority or protocol, but about trust, responsibility and shared human values.
The presence of Dr. Chinmay Pandya, leader of the Birth Centenary celebrations, further reinforced the vision that the centenary is not merely a celebration of the past, but a blueprint for the future — one where spirituality is not an escape from life, but its very centre. Addressing the gathering, he said that the eternal flame lit by the Yugrishis was meant for all humanity, and the centenary celebrations are a commitment to carry that flame into the next century.
The campus resonated with spiritual fervour as saffron flags fluttered, Vedic hymns echoed, and devotional music filled the air. When bhajans such as “Guru Charanan Man Bhaaye” were sung, they transformed into living memories of sacrifice, silent penance and selfless dedication — the forces that shaped a movement without noise yet changed an era.
Hundreds of participants from across the country attended the ceremony, marking it as a defining spiritual prelude to the forthcoming centenary celebrations.
