Global AI Safety and India
On the sidelines of the India AI Impact Summit Week, the 3rd edition of AI Safety Connect 2026 convened distinguished global leaders, policymakers, and AI experts at The Imperial for a focused dialogue on the future of safe and ethical Artificial Intelligence.
Representing Dev Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya, Honourable Pro Vice Chancellor Dr. Chinmay Pandya joined an eminent panel comprising Dr. Urvashi Aneja, Mr. Osama Manzar, and Prof. Hemant Bhargava. The session was moderated by Dr. Mark Nitzberg.
The panel examined how global AI safety debates are often shaped by frontier corporations and AI superpowers, while communities most exposed to technological risks remain distant from governance and agenda-setting processes. It further explored how India’s vast cultural, linguistic, and socio-economic diversity presents both challenges and opportunities in operationalising inclusive and accountable AI systems.
The dialogue highlighted India’s growing role in contributing to global frameworks on digital public infrastructure, multilingual AI deployment, and expanding digital access, rights, and literacy.
