Dr. Chinmay Pandya on Ethical Foundations of AI Safety
Addressing the distinguished gathering at AI Safety Connect 2026, Honourable Pro Vice Chancellor Dr. Chinmay Pandya emphasized that AI safety must extend beyond regulatory mechanisms and technological safeguards.
He articulated that:
• AI safety must be anchored in ethical consciousness, not merely compliance frameworks.
• India’s experience with digital public infrastructure and multilingual AI ecosystems offers a unique model for inclusive governance.
• Democratized access, digital literacy, and value-based innovation are essential pillars of safe AI.
• Scientific advancement must be harmonised with human dignity, societal responsibility, and spiritual intelligence.
He further highlighted that institutions like Dev Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya are actively integrating ethics, human values, and consciousness studies into emerging technology discourse — fostering a model where innovation serves humanity and contributes to global welfare.
The session reinforced the need for collaborative, inclusive, and ethically grounded AI governance, positioning India as a vital voice in shaping the global AI safety narrative.
